How much radiation is emitted during an X-ray?

I'm super paranoid about radiation poisoning, what with has been going on with fukushima, and I freaked myself out. I had two dental x-rays only a few days apart from each other, and I'm worried about storing a deleterious amount of radiation in my body. If it is so safe why do I have to wear a bullet proof vest while the nurse stands around the corner??
